Professional Experience

Surv. Isaac Larbie is a Deputy Director in the Survey and Mapping Division (SMD) of Lands Commission, under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources. A self-motivated, open-hearted and committed professional with excellent communication and good managerial skills.

He has over 28 years of professional experience in the Land Surveying Fraternity, attending various Ministerial and Divisional meetings, Workshops, Seminars, and Conferences (both local and international). He actively participated in major LAP activities, Hydrographic Seminars/workshops, writing of Quarterly/Annually Departmental Performance and Budget reports, member of Budget Preparation Team, M&E Activities and Lecturing.

  • Co-ordinator for SMD on the CBD and RPRD Activities for the LAP Project (2015–18)
  • Member of the GHANA-CÔTE D'IVOIRE ITLOS Judgement Implementation Committee, constituted in September 2017
  • Member of the GHANA-TOGO Maritime Boundary Negotiation Committee, constituted in 2018
  • Presented at seminars, workshops and conferences at both local and international level — AfRES 2015 in Kumasi; FIG Conferences in Malaysia (2014) and Bulgaria (2015)

He has risen through the ranks to the Grade position of Deputy Director at the Survey and Mapping Division (SMD) and is currently the Ashanti Regional Surveyor.

He joined the Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) in 2004, became a Professional Member in 2007, and was elevated to Fellow in 2017. He is also a Professional Member of the Ghana Geospatial Society (2024).
