The Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS) is established to promote and uphold the professional standards of surveying in Ghana, committed to integrity, competence, and public service.
For the purposes of this Constitution, unless the context otherwise requires:
The Institution shall have a Common Seal, which shall be in the custody of the President, who shall be responsible for its use in accordance with the policies of the Institution.
The Institution shall have the following categories of membership:
The qualifications, rights, and obligations of each category shall be defined by the Governing Council.
The Governing Council shall be the supreme decision-making body of the Institution, composed of elected members and ex-officio members as defined by the Institution’s regulations.
The Institution shall maintain proper financial records, subject to annual audits. The financial year shall end on December 31 of each year.
The Institution shall hold Annual General Meetings and may hold other general meetings as necessary. The Governing Council shall set rules for the quorum and procedures for such meetings.
This Constitution may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of members present at a General Meeting, provided that at least one month’s notice of the proposed amendment has been given to all members.
Members of the Institution are required to adhere to the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and professionalism in all their dealings.
