Message from Chairman

Surv. Osei Agyeman Badu, (FGhIS)

Colleague Surveyors, as we observe the beginning of a new dawn in the practice and delivery of professional services, I wish to highlight three core areas worth specific focus on.

Training and Knowledge Sharing

For us to stay abreast and keep up with our peers at the international level on the practice of the Quantity Surveying profession and evolving areas, we need to undergo rigorous and tailored training in the various core competencies of the practice.

Training in skills development, core competencies, and on-the-job experiences through continuous professional development and knowledge sharing are the only way to remain relevant and visible as professionals.

Global Competitiveness

Our professional practice has evolved over the years with many specialized practice areas. The use of technology has facilitated the advancement and impactful delivery of the Quantity Surveying Practice and related services.

The policy of trade liberalization by governments and regional blocks across the world, with inclusiveness policy by international professional affiliate bodies, makes global competition an imperative.

It is time for us, as practitioners, to match up with our international peers by embracing the use of modern technology and available software to enhance our skills and make us globally competitive.

Impact and Relevance of our Profession to National Development

It is only when we have acquired the requisite skills and knowledge and are able to match up with our peers from the global community that we can be responsive to the demands of our society and local industry.

Over the years, our visibility as a professional group has been limited, not because we are not working, but as a result of playing second choice to our international colleague firms and members who have demonstrated advanced skills and competencies through investment in training.

Let us, therefore, strive to sharpen our skills through training to remain relevant and support our nation-building efforts with world-class service delivery.

Thank you.
